Most lawn care business owners dont put much time into where their phone number should appear. Just ask yourself where does your phone number appear? One of our forum members had some great information to share in this post at the Gopher Lawn Care Business Forum.
He said You want your phone number PROMINENTLY displayed. You want to make sure you edit your html meta tag description to include your phone number first so your search engine listing will display your lawn care business like this.

For those that dont know, I asked him what is the importance of having your phone number in that location? Why is it so important?

Your DESCRIPTION would be (assuming this is your website name):

The phone number will show up in the link desciption on the search engine (depending on the link.)
Meaning they may not even visit your site first, because they found what they want, a phone number.
The easier you make it to have people contact you, the more contacts you will get.
This is great information and I do hope this gets you thinking on how to alter your lawn care business website to display your phone number and contact information.
Marketing your lawn care business only with lawn care business cards?
Brandon wrote Well these last few weeks I have been completely covered with work. I have picked up several new yard accounts, plus 6 tree removal jobs at about $700 each (average). I have picked up 3 brush clearing jobs. One at $600, one at $1,900, and another at $4,250.
That is great news! Can you give us your advice on how you stay busy? What should other lawn care business owners be doing or thinking about in order to get back on track? Especially if they recently got started?
Brandon replied Well, Most of my work comes from repeat business and referrals. Most of my new business comes from craigslist. I have never spent any money on advertising, except business cards. I have a theory that once you start paying for advertising, you will need to keep paying to keep the work flow coming, so Ive tried to avoid it from day one.
I would suggest just putting yourself out there, and never turn down an opportunity to talk about work with someone. I have started up conversations with MANY people about what I do, and the next thing I knew I was giving a bid to them, or someone they knew.
So I guess, talk, talk, talk, and put yourself out there. Let everyone know what you are doing, and dont be afraid to ask someone if they need something done. A lot of the same things you have been saying on the forum.

Free Lawn Care Door Hanger Template and Website Design - GopherHaul Lawn Care Business Podcast
http://www.gopherforum.com I was having a great discussion on the Gopher Lawn Care Business Forum with my friend Jeff and he was sharing with me some of his experiences trying to market his lawn care business. Jeff: When I worked with the previous lawn care business employer they did a lot of telephone soliciting and door hanger marketing. Here in our part of the state, almost all the towns limit door knocking and require that you go to the town hall or police station, pay for a background check, and wait for a permit until the background check comes back. Therefore, we didnt do much of that. So we would hang door hangers saying things like, Check out your neighbors yard. Doesnt it look great? Dont you want your yard to look that good? Then we would get their phone number out of a reverse directory and call them until they threatened to call the police.
Now I go out and hang lawn care door hangers marketing my materials. I generally try to do that on weekends hoping that Ill catch someone working out in there yard. Again, I use the soft sell technique. Generally, something like, wouldnt you rather be spending time doing something else right now? If theres kids around I use that to my advantage. I have kids of my own and I say things like, they wont be this small for long, trust me. Quit spending your weekends working in your yard. I can free up your weekend for $XX.XX, but your son/daughters childhood is priceless. In fact Im trying to figure out how to put that last statement into a door hanger. Kind of like the Mastercard commercial. Anyone with any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
So after playing around with a few ideas I came up with this lawn care business door hanger design. You can download it for free and try it out. Let me know what type of results you get.
Remember when you are out working, distribute your door hangers using the clover leaf lawn care marketing technique. Get your door hanger on a few houses to each side of the home you are mowing as well as hang the lawn care door hangers on a few houses across the street. This is the best way to maximize your time and add more lawn care customers to your route.

I wanted to share some YouTube Marketing Tips & Secrets today because I constantly see people posting videos on YouTube and only a few people are doing these (YouTube Marketing Tips & Secrets) I’m about to share with you the right way
YouTube is a search engine as you all should know and is becoming one of the most popular. Right now the Alexa ranking of YouTube is #3 - only Yahoo & google are above YouTube in rank
So what does this mean for you? Well it means if you can promote your business effectively using YouTube marketing and get it ranked high on the first page of what ever people search for then you are going to generate tons of leads and make a lot of money. Problem is people dont implement the proper marketing to rank high in YouTube
Here is what not to do as your first Youtube marketing tip : I see it all the time. Someone thinks by going to the number 1 video on YouTube and coping the exact title, description & tags will rank you high in YouTube. Wrong! By doing this you will show up in the related search most the time (which is not a bad thing), but just like any other search engine they will not rank you high in the search engine for those keywords because it is not unique content
So how do you rank high using YouTube marketing? Well here is my answer and I consistently rank on the #1 page of any keyword I go after. Its almost just common sense too
YouTube Marketing Tips & Secrets #1 - Ask for ratings & comments in your videos either as a title clip or actually asking people to in your video. (the more ratings, comments, favorites, and views you have on your video will help your ranking not only in YouTube but other search engines as well)
YouTube Marketing Tips & Secrets #2 - Write UNIQUE content in your Title & description, (its ok to copy Tags) Of course you want to put your keyword you are targeting throughout the whole thing but make sure it is Unique content. (this is the number 1 reason you are not ranking high in your YouTube marketing)
YouTube Marketing Tips & Secrets #3 - Please! offer value instead of a big pitch of your opportunity or product. No one will rate your video high or comment on something that they dont think has value. Always do some sort of training or something that will help them before you pitch what you are promoting (Reviews of you actually using a product that you promote works really well).
Now there are way more marketing secrets, tips & strategies to YouTube marketing then just the 3 tips above. But if you at least follow those 3 marketing tips in your videos then you will rank higher, make people like your videos, and ultimately make more money!

A good start is to make sure you submit your website to the top search engines. Also, networking with other websites is important. Talk to your friends and ociates who have websites and create as many doorways into your website as possible. The search engines look favorably upon this especially if the sites linking to you are sites with similar topics. You may consider hiring a professional search engine marketing firm because you’ll need to dedicate a lot of time for as long as you have your website. So it may be best to leave it to the professionals.
Keep an eye on the competition that’s ranking high for your category on the search engines. See what the number one site is doing. Maybe they are doing something you can do or do even better. Maybe they’re not doing something that you can do. If your business and is just starting out on the Internet, you can market your website using pay per click advertising. With pay per click advertising you only pay when people click on your advertisement and come over to your website. So it’s a great way to get highly targeted leads to your website.
