Hey, has any1 ever had a dodgy bank phone call? saying their from ur bank. Well one day i got a REAL bank phone call saying she thinks sum1s been looking at my account. She said something about telephone banking, which i never do, so she blocked that account off for me, incase someone was trying to get into it. Ever since then i’ve been getting dodgy ‘bank’ calls.

i had a missed phone call from this number - 08708503491 and i didn’t know whether to call it back or not, anyways i typed in this number in google to see what came up, and well, all i read about this number was eg. ‘don’t answer this number’, ‘they claim to b from the bank’, etc. So i saved this number as Don’t Answer. And they still keep on phoning my mobile. But today i got another phone call on my house phone from this number - 001323888121. and it was a man, he sounded pakistan. he asked for my name personally, and he said somethin about £850, and then asked ‘would u like me to put this into ur account?’ so i was like ‘what? put what into my account?’ and then my mum started talkin to me so i was kind of whispering to her and talking to her, but then this man from the ‘bank’ hung up. when i redialled it, it said number not recognised.

so has any1 else had anything like this?
i’ve heard from my aunt that this is on the news, and they’re trying to get money everyway possible, from peoples accounts. and they’ve took £27,000 from a womans account!

why havent the police traced these ppl or anything!
i’ve also contacted the bank since and told them about this and they’ve confirmed these numbers are NOT recognised.

In this essay, I’ll give you 10 options to evaluate your web sites quality.

1. Indexed WebPages. Enter Google, and search for site:domain.com
For Example site:www.seekposition.com
That’s how I can determine how many pages of my web site Google has crawled. This is easy, and of course - more indexed webpages = better. That means more quality content. Forums might be excellent - Each topic = content+new page.
2. Back Links. The number of people linking to you. Remember! Its not just about quality, and its not just about quantity. You need to combine both of them for good results. This is very very important. Top 20 Search Engine Ranking.
3. Age of domain. Search Engines like old domains. The older it is - the better. This is not very important - but still, it helps. When you are moving to a new site, Remember to do 301 transfers to your new web site
4. Page Rank - This factor is decided by Back Links only. Here its matter a bit more about quality. This is not a very important factor, but people tend to think it is.
5. Title. Your website title. This is a VERY important factor relating your Search Engine’s Position. You should Check Your Google Position at least every 7 days - To see if changes you made are making your position better
6. Meta Tags. HTML Meta Tags such as Keywords and Description are very important, so use them well. Meta Keywords is less important in this days, but Meta Description still plays an important act - when people search for your website, that is what they’ll see.
7. Domain. It has been checked that domain name containing keywords can really help. Choose your domain with caution - It might be a very important factor.
8. Text. Text Text Text. Text is almost the most major part about ranking. It doesn’t matter if you are number one, If you don’t have what the visitor wants - he’ll leave. All Search Engines LOVE text. especially quality text. But, don’t copy text - you might get punished for that. Google treats text-copying really hard - so watch out.
9. Bounces. google Can Determine if a visitor visits a webpage by searching it, and then immediately after entering - leave it. So don’t try to rank in the wrong keywords. If you have a website about dogs - you don’t need to be number one when people search for “horses”. This can extremely affect your Google position.
10. UnKnown. No one know what is all Search Engines factors. Never trust someone who promises to make sure you will be number one. The same amount of money you pay - everyone else can pay.

In the year 2003 when i first got Internet i got this modem called Home Connect Cable Modem and 4 months ago i got vonage so my voice quality is terrible because its like dropped audio so i think the modem is the problem so i searched my modem including the model number on google and i came to their website and it says that they don’t make cable modems no more and also my cable modem was first released in 2001 so do you think my cable modem is the problem with my vonage dropped audio and the connection getting away a few times a week?

Also can somebody recommend me a good quality cable modem that you wont need to call your Internet company to get it to running because its a pain in the butt and which store do they sell it plz?

I have vonage also but seen for the most part to have no problem but then again I have my broadband at 7mps. if you are running at the discounted 256 that could be the problem talk to your cable company about raising you cable speed and this should alleviate you problem

I am an Adwords advertiser and recently I have been comparing my page views (how many times a visitors sees a page) to the number of clicks Google has been charging me. On November 25th, my Web site had 308 page views, but google charged me for 705 clicks.

In any other business, that would be called fraud. Part of me wonders if Google is doing this to other Adword advertisers and that is how they are “jacking up” their revenues, thus increasing their stock price that hasn’t been seen since the “Dot.com” bubble burst in the late 1990’s.

My question is, has any one else experienced this problem and is there any legal action against Google I can take not only to help me but also other unsuspecting Adword advertisers maybe being taken advantage of without their knowledge?

I am not even saying someone in Google is driving up my clicks, because there are more clicks than page views. If someone were hammering on my Adword link, they would reach the page and record a page view. What I am concerned about is that Google is over charging clicks without any audits. They might as well print their own money.

The challenge is that Yahoo! Merchant Solution tracks the page view with a 90% accuracy. That leaves 370 clicks not counted for in the amount charged to me. If my competitor were clicking on my Adword ad, it would show as a page view. There is something deeper going on with Google, their revenues and their soaring stock price.

Sounds like click fraud to me. Raise the issue with Google and have them investigate the case. Many sleazy b@stards out there stealing revenue by falsely clicking ads…or maybe some competition trying to eat up your ad dollars eh?

Fukinluck - You think they would actually pay employees to click ads? C’mon, with all of the tech out there I would think programmed errors would be a better route

I didn’t want to come right out and say it like that but, I agree.

It is probably NOT your stats program because I see the same thing in my raw log, pro stats program, and with very sophisticated tracking. Whenever it shows up, sales are dead also.

Even a savvy competitor can click and x-out before a pageview is recorded and also come in with multiple IP’s so it is really tough tracking them at times.

Bottom line, complain but, it is the fox watching the henhouse…we are all at their mercy as advertisers.

And yes, Yahoo! PPC rocks! I wish they had adwords.

There is a way to get free traffic and backlinks to your website, launching yourself to the first page in google organic search results within a very short period of time. But it does take some work, there are no free lunches. With that said, if you are very dedicated and take it upon yourself to make it work by setting a goal to employ this method on a consistent basis, you can compete with and surpass the big boys of the web. The playing ground does indeed become more level.

You’ve probably heard or read that writing articles is a very effective way to get free targeted traffic to your website. Yes, it is, but that is just the start. Writing articles is great, but it is slow going until you give it some oomph! The conventional method of article writing usually requires pounding them out in large numbers (depending upon the competition for your keywords) to pole vault yourself to where you eventually want to be in search engine rankings. Please don’t be disheartened. Anything worthwhile is worth the effort, and you feel better about it anyway when you reach the top of the mountain. In the meantime, I want to share with you one of the “baby steps” that helped me get to the number one search result on Google’s Local Search. It was quite easy for me to even beat a major competitor for my chosen keywords. It ain’t alphabetical, baby, it’s dog eat dog, just like the rest of the net, and you getting up there in the Local Search Results can really help you.

How I did this, and how you can too, is quite elementary. But I found that not many people in my niche were doing it. I first signed up for Google Local Business Center. Then I walked through the set up process which is pretty self explanatory (it is free, by the way). I didn’t have a physical location so I got a P.O. Box, which is advised to do by Google if you don’t have a location. The part that not many of my competitors were doing was posting pictures (I bought several from off of the internet that were applicable to my products). I also made a short 6 minute video and put it on Youtube. That was quite easy to do also. I just had a friend teach a simple skill that is helpful and pertinent to my niche. I then downloaded the Youtube video to Google Local Search. Besides all of this, I put the web address of a free E-book I found on the internet into the coupon category, stating the coupon was good for one free and immediately downloadable E-Book pertinent to my niche. Get creative like this, and you’ll find many ways to get you traffic!

I hope this helped you think of things you can do to get you further to your goal of mounting the google mountain. If you don’t think Local Search will help, think again. And then do the same thing for Yahoo’s version of it. Borrow a camcorder if you have to. I think the biggest thing is overcoming the obstacle of doing something you haven’t done before and think might be hard. You have momentum in not having done it up to this point, but you can change that, take a “baby step,” and the momentum you have started by doing these simple things will really get the ball rolling in the right direction!

when you do an advanced search on amazon for book, you basically can query based on only one or more of the fields listed on this page, http://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Search-Books/b/ref=sv_b_0?ie=UTF8&node=241582011, (i.e. stuff like keywords, author, language etc.)

for a project that I am trying to do, i need to be able to query by one additional field and that field is ‘# of pages in the book", so I want to be able to specify the various regular parameters like keywords, publisher etc, but then additionally i want to be able to say something like ‘# of pages in book >500′, this query should show me all the matches for my search which have more than 500 pages.

I have the same problem on Google books and am looking to do the same thing there too, I just need to able query based on page either on amazon or on google books.

please let me know if this is not clear.

i have tried to find a solution to this problem but have been unable to do so, i know i can do regular google searches (i.e. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/201581.html) but that is useful only when i specify exact length of book (e.g. 500 pages) but i want to be able to specify range (e.g. >500 pages).

i would think what i am trying to do is fairly common and there has to be a solution for it. So please let me know if there is?

e..g can i use one of amazon’s search APIs and query based on book length in pages?

is it possible to add a voice menu to a google voice number. For example if someone calls i want it to ask press one for services press 2 for computer support. No, that’s one of a set of 2 or 3 features that google needs to add to voice before they can integrate it with Google Apps for business use. Currently, if you want that feature you need to pay for it from a service like Ring Central, which I use for my business phone.

I use Ring Central in conjunction with Google Voice. Each person gets a Google Voice line as a direct dial, but the main number is Ring Central (which also supports number porting), so people can call into one central number and select individual people in the company through their directory along with other higher level features not yet available in Google Voice.

I expect over the course of the next year or so that Google will add these features, as well as VOIP service using Gizmo5 (which they recently purchased). Remember, Voice is still in beta and likely to remain there for a while. Google is notorious for long beta periods.
