What does "upstream traffic" from Google to Wikipedia mean?
No. That’s not the right explanation. The traffic is going from Google to Wikipedia, specifically. It has nothing to do with uploading or downloading by an end user. It’s about traffic from google to Wikipedia. What’s the difference between "upstream traffic" and "downstream traffic" from Google to Wikipedia?
When we are browsing the internet we are always downloading stuff from the net. Even when we open a website its part of downloading but upstream is connected with uploading when information is being uploaded on to the server for others to access it its called uploading and in the process the internet traffic created is called upstream traffic. We use http for uploading one uses FTP - File transfer protocol for bulk transfers
Will Google pull out their ads on your site if you can’t generate more traffic/visitors?
I’m a bit worried that google will cut off my life support. I’m just starting a blog. Thankfully, Adsense approved my application but I can’t generate more traffic yet. I’m still working on it. Will they eventually stop displaying ads on my site if I don’t have more visitors? :’(
No, they don’t care about that too much. Just make sure that your site complies with the rules and you’ll be fine.
Whatever you do don’t click your own ads or ask other people to click them, that will get you canned for sure.
I Love Traffic Jams
Most web marketers would agree that the number one and most fundamental aspect of any successful website is; “The more traffic, the better!” In keeping with that strategy, please let me share a few thoughts on how to actually accomplish this.
The one thing you can always count on in this world we live in, if you own a car of course, is getting stuck in traffic. There are those who experience this on a daily basis and for the rest of us, who do not drive to work, hopefully only once in a while.
Nevertheless, for most people this is a huge source of frustration and stress. Why? Because drivers hate the very thought of being stuck in one place when they want to be in another place. Take a look at the people around you the next time you’re in a traffic jam. Is everyone smiling and having a good time? Probably not…
So, how many of you would like to know how to alleviate the upset and the anxiety associated with being stuck in traffic? Because, and here’s the thing, traffic jams are not going to disappear anytime soon. As long as we as a society rely on cars and trucks to get around there will always be traffic! But, even though it sounds crazy, I personally have learned to love traffic jams. Here’s why….
I’ve always maintained there are only 2 things you can do in any stressful situation; you either accept it or you can remove yourself from the situation. Beating yourself up or blaming someone else for the traffic jam only makes it worse. That’s what most people don’t understand. It’s not the traffic jam that’s the problem; it’s your resistance to it. And, it’s that resistance that causes the stress. In other words, it’s the amount of energy you put into resisting your situation that causes the stress, not the situation itself.
In the case of traffic however, it’s obvious that you cannot remove yourself from it if you’re already in it. So, the only other thing you can do is accept it, right? Complete 100% of acceptance of the situation is the only way to alleviate 100% of the stress. Now, I can hear your brain malfunctioning right about now and your saying to yourself, “how can I possibly learn to accept traffic?” Ah ha! Therein lies the secret to getting what you really want. Because that’s what life is about, getting what you really want instead of what you don’t want, right?
What you really want is more success. And, even though success means many different things to many different people, it’s still something that most people with the wherewithal to achieve big things, strive for each and every day.
Success? In a traffic jam? You’re saying to yourself, “now, I’m really confused!” You see, there is one place where a traffic jam is a beautiful thing…the Internet! That’s what we call in the internet marketing business the key to any successful website, “lots and lots of traffic.” And, the more traffic jams we can create on our websites, the better!
So, if you want more success, at least in business, start getting more traffic to your website. There are of course many other things to consider when designing your site to make this happen, but without traffic a website is useless.
So, you now know what you really want - more success. You now know what you need to do to get it generate more traffic to your website. But, the most important part of this 3-part formula is; knowing how to do it! Without knowing how to do something you will never get the success you most certainly deserve. And, because business is about customers - the more customers you have the more success you’ll have. Knowing how to get more customers to your website and create a traffic jam is a science and it is definitely a skill which can be learned.
Now let’s look at the many resources available to you to generate the traffic you need to run a successful website; search engines, affiliate programs, content submissions, email campaigns, joint venture partners, link exchanges, blogs, pay-per-click advertising and a whole host of other resources too numerous to mention here. If some of these things sound unfamiliar to you, my highest recommendation is to at least find out what they are and some of the things you need to do to make them work. For the purposes of this article, we’re going to focus on one thing; search engines. Why just search engines? Because that’s where statistics have shown that 70% of your website traffic will be driven through search engines like; google, Yahoo, MSN etc. Plus, it’s free!
How do you make search engines work for you?
First, you need to optimize your website to get a high search engine ranking. This means selecting relevant targeted keyword phrases and placing those keywords strategically on your web pages. How do you know what keyword phrases to use? That’s where many people make huge mistakes because they actually optimize their sites for keyword phrases that nobody’s actually searching for. Hint! Find out first what people are searching for and then build your web pages around that. There are tools out there to help you chose what search terms are relevant such as; Google’s free service called Overture, and WordTracker which is a paid service.
Once you’ve chosen your keywords it’s time to place them on your site. This is what we call keyword density. My suggestion for optimal results is to place one or two keyword phrases on each page in your; Page Title, Meta Description Tags, Meta Keyword Tags and a few times in the text of your webpage. This alone will significantly increase the ranking of your site for engines like Google and Yahoo. You see, these engines think like people. They look for what’s important on your website and how relevant your site is to what key phrases you’re optimizing it for. So, in other words don’t optimize your site for “free movie downloads” if you’re selling cosmetics. Bad idea! You can actually get penalized by engines for trying to trick them into sending you traffic.
Finally, the most significant factor in increasing your search engine optimization is incoming links. And, if you’re wondering how important this is? That’s the million dollar, drop the gates, release the hounds, key to the universe! Why? Well, think of it like this. Even if your site is optimized with relevant keywords, who’s to say that you’re any good at what you do. Who’s to say your products and services are any good. That’s the way engines like Google think. They want to know from others if you do what you say and if you’re any good at doing it. How do they do this? By finding links to your website, on other sites, that promote what you’re saying on your site. The more links into your website promoting what it is you do, the better!
Are you ready for the kicker? You mean there’s more? Yep, there’s more! If the last paragraph was a million dollar technique, this is definitely a two million dollar technique. Make sure that the links on other websites, which lead to your website, use your keyword phrases. Therefore your links in from outside should look like this… Piano Music by Paul Tobey where the link underneath “piano music” is the url of your site ie: http://www.paultobey.com. An engine like Google searches for the keywords first and then follows the link to see if it’s relevant. If it is relevant, which in the case of the preceding example it is, then the ranking for the keyword search “piano music” will go up every time Google or another search engine, finds one of these links.
So, the next time you’re sitting in traffic and you start to get agitated, stressed and filled with anxiety, think of all the traffic your website will be generating while you’re stuck in the car. Take a look at all the angry people around you, give a big smile and say out loud to yourself, “I Love Traffic Jams.”

How to Drive Traffic to Any Site the Easy Way!
Traffic is vital for any website to flourish, especially of it’s a commercial one.
Traffic refers to the number of people who visit your website. The additional traffic you push to your site, the more likely more people will be attracted in what you have to propose.
There are numerous different ways to develop traffic to your site, but what we’ll be discussing here are the easier ways of driving traffic to your site.
1. Tell everyone
This is the easiest and furthermore, free! If you have a lot of online or real life friends, incite them to drop by your site if they can. The more the merrier, as they say.
2. Using Crawlers
Crawler-based search engines like Yahoo, Google and Ask Jeeves are the next easiest way to grow traffic. Crawlers work by picking up every website or page that matches a query. It crawls on individual pages, big websites and directories. Google in particular has a feature wherein you can instantly add your site’s URL to its directory for simple recovery.
Anyhow, this method doesn’t guarantee that your site will be visited by hoards of visitors. Oh no. That will be determined by your page’s ranking. Page rank is a measure of how relevant your website is. It’s like a range of how much support your site gets. If you get a lot of back links to your site, then this does much to increase its page rank.
3. High quality content, increase in keywords and add a sitemap
A lot of webmasters use the content, keywords and sitemap to develop their traffic. How you ask?
Content
As we’ve said, page ranking is how pertinent your site it. It doesn’t matter if you have a hundred or so pages but they have in it nothing but spam. This is extremely irritating, specially to google, who might even ban you from their list.
High quality content however, is the first way to go about it. Even if you’ve got only 5 or so pages, but possess out up relevant and well written articles, people are certain to come back and visit. A lot of times.
Keywords
For instance, your site is covering a topic like, Superman. Of course the typical person looking for a page on Superman will type “superman” on his query box.
However, some search for more distinct terms like “super man” or “clark kent” or “lois and clark”. If you have pages that have these keywords, there are better chances for your site to be found. The more specific the keyword, the better since it limits the number of the competition.
Sitemap
A sitemap is effective for any website since it increases the number of internal links and pages that you have, therefore increasing the probability that a crawler will pick it up.
It’s also a big help to prospect who are looking for a specific page but wouldn’t want to bother browsing through the whole website.
4. Exchange links with other sites
Exchanging links with other websites will be a superb way to foster alliance and friendship. It’ll increase traffic too, considering most people browse through the links page of websites, especially on fan sites.
At any rate, it wouldn’t be adequate to ask for an exchange link for free or just out of the blue. Before a similar site can do an exchange with you, you must have been offering them something in return, like free content or downloads.
5. Article marketing
Submitting your articles to online publications is a great way to increase traffic too. This is a bit harder than the other methods, since the publication need to accept of your article first.
However, one approved, not only do you get to publish your work, you are also given a link back to your site. This way calls for quality not quantity so please do your best.
6. Submitting to directories
There are free and open directories like imegamall.com and searchsight.com. You can submit your site to them and it may increase traffic to your site.
This method is quick and simple but not so reliable either. It might take weeks or months before your site can be listed or maybe not at all. So it’s better to try this along with the other methods for greater success.

7 Ways To Increase Traffic To Your Websites
If you have a website with information advertising your business or offering items for sale, you need to promote it and get traffic. There are plenty of ways for you to increase traffic to your website, some of them are free and some not.
One way to increase traffic to your website is to market it by word of mouth. If you tell a few people and they visit your website and like it, they may recommend it to others. The more your website stands out from the rest and the more it offers visitors, the more likely you are to get visitors or traffic.
The way to draw traffic to your website is through the search engines. There are a number of ways of doing this. The most obvious is to undertake some keyword research. Find out what words people use when looking for websites such as yours. If, for example, your website is trying to promote home businesses to women at home, find the best search terms, e.g., work at home, work at home moms or the short form, wahms. When you have discovered which is the most popular, use that term in your website address and in the stuff that you write about.
Yet another way to increase traffic to your website is to find someone you know with a similar site and exchange links. The idea is that you paste a link to their website in your pages and they do the same for you. Search engines pick up on inbound links the more you have the more likely you are to come up on a google search. Some website owners pay for links to their websites to increase traffic. Another thing to do is to get your site listed in one of the online site directories.
Join a forum, preferably one that deals with the same issues as your website and you will be able to chat to other people about your business. People dont tend to advertise when they are chatting on a forum, so all you need to do is share your view about your business.
There is a type of advertising that is known as Pay-per-click that can be used to increase traffic to your website - just be careful which program you choose. With these programs, you pay for the wording in the ads on your website. Those words that cost more tend to attract the most traffic. Try it for a short while.
Make sure that the content on your website is worth reading. If people visit and dont find anything that interests them or that offers something, they wont return. Remember that for online businesses, content is king.

Are Articles Needed for Google Adsense Cash
There is nothing more rewarding than receiving the check of hard earned money. You must have seen thousands upon thousands of online testimonies of how they ‘got rich’ from Google Adsense and how they make thousands per week. Some of these stories are not entirely false.
The main secret behind making money from Google Adwords/Adsense program is content. There is no shortcut. Content is the first step behind any successful money making website. Of course, there is SEO-ing, but content is what drives the potential customers to your site. How much you are willing to invest will determine how much you will make per month, but it is possible to make money without spending a dime.
First of all, you will need a website. Assuming your content will be purely textual (since Google spiders crawl on text/keywords), you may either get a domain and hosting or choose to post to a blog, or you could sign up for free ad-supported website. It is recommended that if you plan on making money from your website, you ought to get a website with your own domain name, after all, ad supported hosting defeats the purpose of your money making; plus, you want your website to appear as professional and less congested as possible.
Now that you have a website, the next step is getting content for your site, but we’ll get to that at the end of this article.
Now that you have a domain name and a niche, you will have to sign up for the google Adwords Program. Note that Google Adwords enables you to get paid for advertising and Google Adsense is when you will have to pay for advertising.
Now that you have your domain with efficient hosting, and your Adwords account, you will need to build your site. If you are already a site-creating guru, then you are a step ahead. If not, creating your content site is not purely throwing out HTML pages. Sooner or later, content is going to keep growing and you may either get an efficient content manager or get hired help.
Traffic makes the difference between you making money or you not getting a dime. In order to get traffic, you can either optimize your website or get traffic by spamming. Now, remember that spamming will not get you repeat visitors, and will give your business a very bad reputation, plus, spamming may cost your website not to be listed on search engines, and Google has the right, under the ‘Terms and Conditions’ to revoke your Adwords account. You definitely do not want to start from scratch.
Traffic can come by word of mouth and efficient SEO-ing. SEO is an enormously broad topic that ranges from content, link popularity, link exchanges, keywords, web description, etc., to website rankings and so on. In order to remain on the top of your niche, you will need to always want your customers coming back. In order to keep that traffic flowing, you will need to keep content coming fresh and keeping your site constantly optimized and up to date. You will need to be aware of most common spider crawling techniques and use it to your advantage.
Another most common made mistake in getting website content free and cheap is to copy other websites or repeat the same information (if you have more than one money-making site). This is a bad move! Search engines will see this duplicate content as spam and remove it from searched results. Also, if you copy and paste content that is not yours and/or of public domain you will be infringing copyright. Copyright infringement is a crime.
As far as content goes, you can hire help to write articles or you can conveniently buy articles in bulk. Bulk articles are normally distributed by renowned companies and usually are more cost-efficient. Bulk content is also good if you are thinking of expanding your site. A renowned company that can help you with content and marketing strategies is the Myrdhinn’s Private Vault. There are thousands of articles in different niches and since it’s from a trustworthy company, you can always return for new quality content.
Remember that signing up for Google Adwords is free. If your website gets rejected at first, don’t worry. Just build your site and re-apply. As long as your website is legitimate and is not an ‘about-me’ site, you are more than likely to get approved. Plus, having an Adwords account opens you to the Google community and you can increase your PageRank dramatically.

Optimize Your Site For Free Traffic
You’ve just created a website and registered a domain name. You have an awesome product and great content. You think man any day now I am going to get a bunch of people checking out my site. But that day doesn’t come. Sure you get a few visitors each day and maybe even average 20 or 30 unique visitors. But this is never going to get your business off the ground.
Let’s face it there are 2 kinds of traffic on the internet. The paid kind which comes from advertising and pay per click (PPC google AdWords). And there’s the free kind which comes from the search engines. I don’t know about you but I would much rather prefer to receive sustainable free traffic then the paid kind.
SEO - What is it?
So how do we get free traffic and what’s involved. Free traffic comes from search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN. There are others but these are the major ones. People use search engines to find products and services. In fact most successful online business’ report the majority of the traffic they receive to their sites comes from the search engines. And unless your site appears on the first few pages of a search chances are you will not be noticed very often.
I don’t care if your site provides services, products, or information, search engines are a primary method of navigation for almost all Internet users.
Search Engine Optimization or SEO for short. Is in fact a process of optimizing pages of your website and make them search engine friendly so that they can be positioned in the top of search results for particular keywords.
How Search Engines Function
Search engines run automated programs, called “bots” or “spiders” that visit websites from all over the internet and gather information regarding web pages that are searched by the people. This is otherwise known as having your website crawled.
After crawling the WebPages on your site, the gathered content is stored in a huge searchable database of documents which make up the search engine’s “index”. The search engine arranges this information in various searchable fields, so that when a queried the search engine can scan billions of documents and completes this in fractions of a second.
The results which are displayed are the ones that most accurately portray the information related to the keywords that the user has searched for. A match is determined if the terms or phrase is found on the page in the manner specified by the user. Every search engine has its own algorithm (a mathematical equation commonly used for sorting) and matching criteria to provide the user with the result, so the result may vary for the same keyword in different search engines.
Ranking Results:-
Results are ranked based on a number of different criteria. They start from the top of the list being the most relevant to the bottom which is the least relevant. One of the key most important factors is keyword relevance. And in order to rank highly based on keyword relevance you need to have pages related to a specific keyword phrase.
Steps to SEO
Bellow is the list of general steps to optimize the website in order to get the higher rankings in the search engines.
Keywords Analysis:-
Keywords are words or phrases the potential customer may use to search any business for their needs. For example if you are a taxation service provider in USA, “Tax Refund USA”, is called a keyword. The first step in Search Engine Optimization is identifying the important keywords for your business. You can determine this list by analyzing your business & your competitors, in order to determine which words should be targeted. Here is an example of a list of keywords for the taxation service provider in USA,
Tax Return USA
Tax Refund USA
USA TaxRapid
Tax Refund
Online Tax USA
Keyword Analysis also includes looking at how many people search for a given term to determine how popular it is and hence its importance. Based on this keyword analysis optimization of the given web site is done to get you the best possible rank on the search engines.
On page Off Page Optimization:-
There are 2 types of optimization that must be performed. First is On Page. This essentially means things that will be done to the coding of your existing pages. After analyzing the keywords you must optimize the web site based on these keywords. Web site optimization includes:
Meta Tags Optimization, Keyword Enrichment and Interlinking of site pages. First optimize your sites meta tags. Change this to include keywords which you are looking to target. Then carefully add a blending of those keywords within your websites content so search engines can read them. At last the interlinking of your website’s pages is established, so the search engines can easily “crawl” your web site to read and rank them based on your keywords.
Link Exchange:-
Now for Off Page Optimization. This is one of the most important and powerful step in the SEO process. Search engines count Link popularity when ranking the site. So the number of incoming links to a site from related sites is very important. These back links can be achieved by exchanging links with other sites. Seek out other high ranking sites that are related to your site and ask for a reciprocal link. This will help you greatly.
Paid Traffic
Pay Per Click Campaigns:-
The search engine results pages contain not only listings of documents found to be relevant to the user’s query, but other content, including paid advertisements. “Pay Per Click” - PPC is the secondary source results for search engines. Google, for example, serves up ads from its well-known AdWords Program. In short for PPC, we have to pay for the advertisement we want to display on search engine results. The nice thing about Pay Per Click is that one only needs to pay when someone clicks on his/her advertisement. But to get best result from this Pay Per Click Campaign, the website needs to be combined with good website optimization. Be careful when using this type of traffic generation. I have seen many people spend many thousands of dollars/month for this type of exposure.
So there you have it. Traffic the free kind and the paid kind. And we all agree that the free kind is the best traffic to get. Just imagine how your business would succeed with hundreds of targeted visitors each day who find your site based on a key phrase entered into a major search engine.

Are You Generating High Home Business Website Traffic?
Having a home business involves coordinating every aspect of the business. From writing the content to advertising the website and product to using marketing schemes to help generate home business traffic, you have complete control over how your business does. While there are many important facets to running a home business, none seem to matter unless you’re reeling in the customers. So how can you go about increasing your home business website traffic?
There are a number of things you can do to help generate a high home business traffic volume. The content that you produce can certainly increase your chances of bringing in more customers. You have to look at your website and ask yourself,”If I were a customer, would the content interest me?” There are hundreds of thousands of people on the internet today with their own websites, so what makes your content worth reading?
In order to increase your home business website traffic, you have to make sure the content you present is clear and precise. Time is money in the internet industry, so don’t waste your time producing content that will simply waste the reader’s time.
Another thing to consider when writing your content is the type of content you produce. A majority of the content on the internet is repetitive and similar to each other. Think of the type of home business traffic you could generate if you were to produce fresh and enticing copy. By presenting your readers with content they haven’t seen yet, you are bound to get return visitors and you will also climb higher on the search engines.
Once you have put together content you believe is worthy of your reader’s time, you have to promote your business. Putting together a solid advertising and marketing campaign is crucial to generating a high home business traffic volume. Whether it is paying to be on the top of specific keywords on google Ads or continuously posting in forums, you have to have a plan. Also, the more variations you have to your marketing campaign, the more versatile and capable of bringing in traffic from various paths you will be.
The last tip to help you increase your home business website traffic is to treat your customers like human beings. It is easy to get blinded in the internet industry by our computer screens and forget that we’re dealing with human beings. Taking the time to develop relationships and encounter your business firsthand will go a long way.
As you can see, there is a lot to increasing your home business website traffic. By using a combination of all the tips listed above, you will begin to generate home business traffic fairly quickly. You have to be patient though because the more advertising you do, the more people will see it.
