I asked a question on Friday and a few hours later I noticed my question was ranked number one in Google. I often see other Yahoo Answers in the search results. Why does google favour Yahoo Answers so much?

so last night while i was playing private maple story, my computer started slowing down. and i noticed that something was wrong because for one, i had to force shutdown my computer because for some reason it wouldn’t turn off. then when i restart the computer, the orange light that usually blinks stops blinking. Whenever I make a search on the Google search engine and yahoo, it comes up with the results, i am redirected to another search engine when i click on one of the links from the results given to me by google. so for example type ’stem cell research’ on the google search engine, it would give a number of results, but when i click on it. it sends me to something else like www.bediddle.com. i have deleted everying cookies, history, tried uninstalling and reinstalling browser; my mcafee anti-virus wasn’t able to detect any spyware or adware. i am using internet explorer.

i really don’t know what to do because from what i can remember last night, some ’svchost.exe’ was asking for access on the internet, and i allowed it because it says microsoft or something. can people give me some help? could it be a selective virus?
i don’t know what to do. i can’t do the sytem restore because like a fool… i freaked out this morning and somehow i deleted all the restore point. because it wouldn’t let me restore it kept saying, restart your computer. which i did multiple times so i ended up erasing all the restore points. also, i’ve noticed that i couldn’t defragment my hard drive for that matter.

can anyone help me please?

i downloaded a program called malwarebytes. i was able to find about 9 trojans, but when i tried using the search engines again…it was still the same. how do i fix it?

svchost.exe is a normal Microsoft process like you said - unless it’s been compromised by a virus, let’s hope not.
I’ve only helped someone with this once but it worked out well that time, so let’s give it a try.

First, download and install Firefox ( http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ ). Then you’ll have a clean browser to use.

If you can figure out what you have, you can sometimes find specific instructions on how to remove it. Try this:
Right-click your taskbar (at the bottom) and pick Task Manager. On the Processes tab, look for things you don’t recognize. If you don’t recognize anything, you’ll have to do a lot of googling (using firefox of course). If you find it, right-click it in task manager and end process. Try and find some specific instructions. A lot of them will tell you to turn System Restore off first so when you kill your virus, it has no chance of coming back. If you really don’t have anymore restore points, you might as well do this (right-click My Computer->properties. System Restore tab, check "turn off system restore") I’ll continue with general tips.

Check you hosts file (it has no extension, open it with notepad) here:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
It should have a bunch of description with # before each line, and this:
127.0.0.1 localhost
If there’s anything else there, add # to the beginning of that line or delete the line. Leave the 127.0.0.1 line alone. (I personally keep a backup of this file in case it ever gets screwed up, so I can just replace it). A virus that can mess this up once can do it again so check this again when you’re done.

Try a program called hijackthis ( http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis ). Run it and select "Do a system scan and save a log file". It will create a log discribing things about your browser and computer in general. This site will explain what the entries mean: http://www.castlecops.com/HijackThis.html

You can get an automatic analysis of your log here: http://hijackthis.de/ . Upload hijackthis.log and click analyze. If you’re unsure, you can get help from a person here:

Read the posting guidelines and post the log on the message board and ask nicely for help. There are other message boards like this.

When you know what to get rid of, in the list on the HijackThis window, check the boxes of things you want gone. Click "Fix Checked". Be careful.

Don’t forget to turn System Restore back on if you turned it off. I hope some of this is helpful!

I open a google account. Using that account, I created a YouTube acount. I deleted the Google account, but the YouTube account remains open. I am unable to login, and Google/YouTube will not give me any answers as to how I validate myself or go about recovering or closing the account.

If you go to youtube..
In the search,, just type in your user name..
If youve uploaded any videos under that account, it should come up, and then you can highlight the user.
Hopefully you have cookies that remember you as that user, or you may have to login..

About an hour back, this 0800 number rang, I believe the rest is 328939. I know someone who has been ringing the house phone at around midnight, though by then it’s unplugged, but the number is always witheld. Is it possible, once picking a call up, it isn’t witheld by then? When I answered this one, they said they were BT, but I’ve searched that number on google and nothing comes up to do with BT!

Is there a good chance it wasn’t BT and it was just some person messing about? Or could it be 0800 reverse or something like that? Thank you!
The person who withelds their number is from London, so is 0800 a used number there? I need all the help I can get to work this one out.
Maybe I’m just jumping to conclusions, but it seems strange how nothing else brought the number up. I’m curious because there have been witheld calls at stupid times at night.

I get a lot of calls with 0800 and they are normally from gas /electric suppliers and my number is supposed to be ex directory when i ask them how they got my number they hang up on me!

Someone showed me one day the photographs of my neighborhood, house, etc! I have no idea how to find this myself, however.

I’ve tried Google Maps but am not getting anywhere.

Enter your location but don’t press enter yet after following the link to Google Maps. Then press the button sattelite on the actual google map. Once in that view, press enter on your location you’ve entered. Then you will be able to view a closer image of the location. May not be available for all locations.

There are so many sites on the net selling web traffic … who are the main companies that i can do business with … that i could sell web traffic and become a traffic reseller back by a main player in the field of web traffic.

I never buy web traffic. It is usually very low quality.

I send and receive many emails every day and have no problems. However, there is one address that I cannot send to. I know it is correct and have double checked it. I receive from it without problem. I am on ntlworld. This is the message that comes up every time:

I typed the error number into google and it came up with help but the only route I could see was to contact my ISP. Does anyone have any simple, one syllable ways to deal with this? I am fairly ok with step-by-step processes but couldn’t find one out there.

If a network administrator finds that a large amount of spam is coming from a given email server, usually because that server is open and being abused, will flag that server as a server not to accept email from. The easiest fix for this is to get an email account from another service, yahoo, g-mail, Man mail, that use a different server…

when i go to express .it shows me more search engines and i dont know which one to pick.i click on pin number then more search engines pop up.
this sites irritating me.why cant express be simple.

When you go to W2 express, after you type in the company name it will have you put in a pin number. But, you have to register first! There is a way to set up your account…they ask you a variety of questions to verify that you are the employee and then they have you pick a 4 digit pin number…then they let you access your W2. Keep on trying because I know the first time it was frustrating to me too.

EDIT: If you click on "forgot my pin", you should be taken to the process of registration if you have not set up an account yet.
